OVERVIEW

What is "Supporting Platform for Life Science Education Research in Kyushu University (Q-plat Form)"?

 The Hospital Campus of Kyushu University, where life science research resources have accumulated, is home to a wide range of advanced research equipment owned by various departments. To enhance the research capabilities of Kyushu University by effectively using this cutting-edge equipment, and with the support of the 2015 Program for Promoting the Enhancement of Research Universities under the title “Development of a Supporting Platform for Life Science Education Research” (Headed by Professor Sho Yamasaki, Medical Institute of Bioregulation), four departments located on the Hospital Campus joined together to improve the research environment by launching a platform to promote the shared use of advanced life science research equipment. The Faculty of Agriculture joined in 2017 and now five departments run the platform.

Adopted as a “Project for promoting public utilization of advanced research infrastructure”

Our Supporting Platform for Life Science Education Research has been adopted as a “2018 Project for promoting public utilization of advanced research infrastructure (Program for supporting introduction of the new sharing system)” of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
In the three years, we promoted the development of a shared-use system under the following policies:

  1. Establish rules for “transitioning the management of high-priced equipment from individual management to organizational management”;
  2. Promote the reuse of regularly used general-purpose equipment;
  3. Introduce a web-based reservation system;
  4. Expand the current departmental billing systems into a university-level or extra-university level billing system and establish a billing system with a basis for calculation;
  5. Develop manuals and create their English version.

In addition, as a horizontal expansion, collaboration with life science departments on the other campus was promoted with the support of the university. Shared use of equipment with the other campuses was promoted.

Please note the acknowledgement on the research result, if your research is supported by this platform.

This work was the result of using research equipment shared in MEXT Project for promoting public utilization of advanced research infrastructure(Program for supporting introduction of the new sharing system)Grant Number JPMXS04223002##.

 The ## indicates the last two digits of the used year (AD).
